Crow Collection of Asian Art
Dallas, TX
Project Type: Renovation
Work Performed: 2011
AD Scope: Acoustics, Audio RecommendationsTrammell and Margaret Crow share their distinguished art collection with Dallas featuring pieces from China, Japan, India and Southeastern Asia, spanning 3500 B.C. to the early 20th century.
Acoustic Dimensions was invited by the Crow Collection of Asian Art to provide acoustic consulting in sensitive spaces. The hard surfaces and high ceilings--which perfectly create a sense of awe in viewing the art--were working against the museum for speech intelligibility when hosting events.
We provided recommendations to reduce overall reverberant noise buildup and improve speech intelligibility along with counsel on upgrading their performance audio systems. We also provided visualizations of proposed acoustic solutions to facilitate decisions on the approach to acoustic treatments.
