Manitoba Centennial Centre
Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
Project Type: Renovation
Seat Count: 2,305
Opening: 2009
AD Scope: AcousticsThe Manitoba Centennial Centre is home to a 2,305 seat hall, built in 1968 and hosts an array of premier performances. The Hall is used by several of the city’s arts organizations, including the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, The Manitoba Opera Association and the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. The hall is booked for touring Broadway-style musicals as well. While known as a “Concert Hall”, it is in fact multi-purpose and includes a full stage house to support theatrical productions.
Acoustic Dimensions was retained to carry out an acoustical study to see what opportunities may exist to improve the acoustics of the hall for its primary constituents, all of which depend heavily on the room’s natural acoustics for their unamplified productions.
