The Forward is a legendary name in American journalism since its inception in 1897 and became known as a defender of trade unionism and moderate, democratic socialism. Published in Yiddish, it became America's premier metropolitan dailies and broadened its reach with a Yiddish-language radio station, WEVD through the 30's and declined after WWII. In 1990, the Forward Association, revived the now English-language Forward as an independent, high-profile weekly newspaper which has grown and evolved to include internet broadcasting.
