Cheju Volcano Show
Cheju Island, Korea
Project Type: Renovation
Opening: 1999
Construction Cost: $150,000
AD Scope: Audio
Project done by Acoustic Dimensions San Diego as Sound Technology Consultants, Inc.
Beginning with the rumbling of a volcano eruption, this show features multiple animatronics including a dragon that spits fire. STC’s work included an 8 channel sound system for discrete music and sound effect playback covering the entire listening area from multiple source locations. The volcano eruption effect is handled by a phased array of subwoofers providing low frequency energy directly into the audience area while minimizing the impact on the five-star hotel rooms located nearby.
