Almost 4,000 people in the Las Vegas Valley call Central Christian their church home. Growth stresses on their original facility located just off the Las Vegas strip caused them to purchase land near Henderson, Nevada, to build a new 3,000-seat facility.
AD was brought onto the project by Team Development, Inc. to provide design for the sound system, acoustics and video projection systems. The three areas in our scope were the main worship center, the chapel and a multipurpose room for the youth.
The most significant challenge in the acoustics and technical systems of Central Christian was a tight construction budget. We worked closely with the architect to implement a room design that worked well acoustically and implemented simple, low-cost design solutions.
Given that people in the Las Vegas area are used to a certain level of performance audio, the auditoium's design criteria required a left/center/right concert level sound system.
Video at Central Christian is used for sermon support, image magnification (IMAG) and general video production. The services are recorded each week for pastoral review and outreach ministries. The church also requires video production capability for youth and other outreach ministries. The primary production format is Betacam SP.
The video signal flow was designed to be shared by the main worship center, the chapel and the youth room. This allows the chapel to be used as overflow. The video for each space is controlled from the production suite as well as from local controls in each room. Cox cable brings local digital cable television to the production room where two additional in-house channels are added to the system and routed to all areas of the facility.
