Faith Landmarks Ministries was founded in 1980 and has grown since then to nearly 10,000 members. With this growth came the need for additional space and in 2008, FLM opened “The Rock House”. This 31,000 sq. ft. youth building will serve as the location for the church’s middle and high school aged kids. With a commercial kitchen, game room, classroom space, a large auditorium and full-sized gym, it is a great place for kids to hang out in a welcoming environment just for them!
The 350-seat room is considered to be more of a theatrical space than traditional worship and can support broadcast, high-energy worship, concerts and dramatic productions. Acoustic Dimensions provided design for a high-powered sound system, video projection with support for IMAG, stage rigging and theatrical lighting. The design included connectivity between the primary rooms as well as to the existing production room in order to tie each of the spaces together.
The acoustics of the space were carefully evaluated and a number of recommendations were made regarding acoustical treatments, location of HVAC units, silencers to reduce the HVAC noise, and wall construction to prevent sounds from transferring between the gymnasium and auditorium, which were adjacent. Acoustic Dimensions worked very closely with the church during the design and construction phase on these recommendations to evaluate the cost impact and level of improvement so that they could make educated decisions on which elements to incorporate initially, defer for future incorporation, or simply not do. The end result is a cost effective space that meets their programming needs.
