Hylton Memorial Chapel is a nondenominational Events Center that opened in 1995. While the 3,500-seat venue does not accommodate a local church or congregation on a regular basis, it was designed to host large Christian events and facilitate renewal throughout the region. Hylton Memorial Chapel’s mission is to perpetuate unity, reconciliation, and revival within the DC metropolitan area and throughout the region.
For the majority of events, the conference center must rent audio and video systems that, unfortunately, vary in quality from event to event. In order to remain competitive, Hylton Memorial Chapel needed to provide high-quality systems that are easy to set up, consistent for every event and provide a superior product. Acoustic Dimensions provided designed two systems with two separate operating systems for the space. The first is an aesthetically clean sound system consisting of small line arrays hidden behind a soffit that can be operated from a permanent balcony mix position or a portable FOH location on the floor. And, if needed, portable subwoofers are used to augment the installed system. This system would be used for lectures and other events that typically aren’t utilizing a full band.
The second configuration is a touring style high power line array system that provides high quality concert level sound. Portions of the installed system are used as fills to the extreme left and right and center seating sections. A full stage monitor system and portable console are used to fill rider requirements of guest artists. A full mic split and connectivity is also available for a remote recording truck.
