Mount Paran Church of God puts an emphasis on music for worship so the design of the sanctuary fully supports orchestra, organ, choir and congregational singing. With wall shaping, acoustic treatments, and high quality speaker systems AD worked with CDH Partners to make Mount Paran intimate even at its large scale.
While transparency of the sanctuary was an important design component, the glass side walls presented some acoustic challenges to be overcome. Video projection and interior lighting were designed to balance with the ambient light. To save on the equipment costs to meet the video production goals, AD designed the infrastructure to work with the church's existing video equipment as well as accommodating for advances in technology.
The first phase renovation created a themed assembly room for middle-high students, giving them a "hip" hangout space and game room. Other youth ministry renovations were the addition of a small coffee bar, and a stage with built-in video screens in the gymnasium for larger youth assemblies. A heavily themed children’s space was also created as part of this phase. Classrooms throughout all three floors were also updated. The children’s wing was completely renovated for infants and toddlers. A playful welcome center for child check-in/check-out and for monitoring access to children’s classrooms was created.
