Pinnacle Hills was an outreach of the First Baptist Church of Springdale, Arkansas. With a combined membership of over, 15,000, the church campus was expanded to accommodate the spiritual needs of a far-reaching congregation.
The facility has a 2,400-seat sanctuary; a flex space used mostly for large meetings, called the Gatheria; a 4,000-sq.-ft. bookstore and café; and a two-story education wing with 19 classrooms. One of the most visible features of the campus is a cluster of outdoor crosses, the largest one measuring 165-ft. tall, to complement an exterior baptistery and gathering area.
One of the biggest challenges was achieving an intimate sound within the shape and volume of the space. The large glass backdrop to the stage--a striking visual element--could have been a major challenge acoustically. The solution was electronic. A supplementary speaker system is hung behind the main arrays for steering the low frequency sound away from the panes of glass.
The audio system in the Gatheria rivals that of many 2000 seat auditoriums and allows the church to use this area for teaching and production.
