Sevier Heights planned to build for the growth of its congregation in phases. They began with a multipurpose 1700-seat worship space with a flat floor and moveable partions that was used for a wide range of activites. In 2008 they expanded the room’s seating capacity by 800 and added audio and video production rooms, a youth room, Awana Rooms, and education spaces onto the campus. Acoustic Dimensions worked with the Church and McCarty Holsaple McCarty to develop an expansion scheme that retained the functionality of the flat floor at the front of the room, but incorporated terrace seating at the rear for improved sightlines and connectivity. The room also retained some of the unique architectural elements that were a result of HH architects implementation of the original acoustical recommendations.
With an expansion of this size it was important they make the best use of the available funds. Much of the equipment in the Youth Room was moved from the Sanctuary during the expansion.
AD provided consulting on acoustics, sound isolation, noise control, sound reinforcement system, video projection, distributed video, video production and theatrical lighting systems in the main worship center, awana rooms, youth room, and production spaces.
